Beach

Technically papa didnt have to work today, which just meant he didnt have to coach but he did have to leave at 4pm to drive up to Coast Mesa and get ready to help coach the older boys teams this weekend in the labor day tournament. His teams are not playing but he is helping some of the other teams. He may not be back until Monday, depending on how the teams do. He went up on Friday though because some of the boys he coached last year got scholarhsips to UC Irvine and so several of the SDFA coaches went up to watch UC Irvine play their first game. I thought it was kind of cool and just another reason why I really do like the club papa is coaching for. Anyways so I have been begging and pleading for papa to go to the beach with the kids, they love when he goes, obviously because he can do more with them than I can, so finally he ageed. He doesnt like to go on days he works because for work he stands in the sun all day and thats what he does at the beach while I sit in the shade, lol! So we went today and while we were not there very long or had our usual picnic and play ground part, we did go and i did see huge smiles on my kids faces and thats all that matters. Thais lost her googles in the crazy waves but besides that it was very smooth. Bita is becoming a beach babe just like Thais and each visit Tiago gets a little bit more brave ad comfortable. Thais is yet again our no fear child and will swim to china if we let her. She is out past boogy boarders and adults, there she is bobbing away in the deep ocean and happy as can be, she gets hit by a wave and all she can tell me is, " I loved it". Just like her mama, I am almost 6 months pregnant and I am still out there wave jumping, I love the ocean too and Im so glad to see my kids loving it at an even younger  age than I got to. This is their home, I told Thais there are kids who have never seen the ocean in real life and she didnt believe me. She thought I was crazy and couldnt understand why not. Oh to be young again! Her week off of swimming and we are still in the water, I really think I finally found one of her loves!

Papa isnt used to seeing our kids so far out in the ocean and Bita just likes to do what everyone else does
she is pointing to where the kids are
those little itty bitty dots are my kids heads and this picture is even cropped and zoomed already
coming back in to say hi, look at those smiles
all 4 of my babies

A great video showing my water loving kids in the ocean

 mud time
catching sand crabs
the big ol'belly
bita would stay here all day all by herself
yes papa had a little over kill on the sun screen but she didnt mind she smiles standing
kneeling in mud
sitting in mud
and when her brother is pouring muddy water on her back
she is still smiling
back in the water to rinse off
but we rinse off again in the pool, then the shower. water loving family to say the least!

Kinder Orientation

I have done it before, heck it was just 12 months ago that I took Thais to kindergarten orientation, so I should be used to this but Im not. Yes I know more people this time around, and we have friends and know the teachers and staff but it doesnt change the fact that I am still losing another one of my kids, my only son to the school system for 7 hours a day. I am still not over the fact of not seeing Thais from 7:30am till 2pm and now I am going to miss Tiago too. He is excited, he is ready or so he thinks he is. We have all had a year to know this day was coming, well 5 years really but he is much more prepared than Thais was. He thankfully got the same teacher Thais had for kinder, so he already knows her and is comfortable with her, I will be volunteering in the class again and am already class mom, as I was helping the teacher with getting other parents to sign up to volunteer. It is fine, I love this teacher, I am thankful she made sure Tiago was in her class and our neighbors daughter is in the class too, so Tiago already has a friend or two. Its going to be good for him. Its going to be hard, its a lot of work but I know she will find a way to teach him and get through to him. At home he is excited to do work and i believe he is at a great spot to take his education to the next level. Its hard to believe but in 9 months he will know how to write 3 complete sentances and read basic books. Big year for my boy. Papa went to the orientation and  we only took Tiago. We wanted to make sure this day (3 hrs) was about him. We went into the auditorum for 30 minutes to hear the principal and and staff talk then it was off to the classrooms where we listen to the teacher talk and the kids practiced walking into the classroom with out mom or dad.  They had a storied read to them, found their names on their desk and on the rug on the floor, saw where they hang back packs and put lunch and snacks. We already knew all this but its still goo for him to know this is his class now, not Thais's. His school too not just Thais's school. He is ready to go, of course kids are excited the first day but then they realize they have to go back for 180 days and its not so exciting anymore. Im pretty sure this will be him but we will see.

Later in the day we went back up the school to see who Thais's teacher would be and find out it was the most recommended teacher for 1st grade. I was nervous because when I met her, she seemed cold and her classroom was empty but Im sure it was just an off day. I have to be thankful my daughter is getting the best education at this school and for free. She is with 9 students from her kinder class 5 of whom parents work at the school, so they all must know this is the best teacher too. Im excited for Thais, this is her chance to stay with a fantastic core of kids and I assume this will be her most trying year as this year is a lot of writing and reading which are her kryptonite, 2nd grade is more math. She will be fine, its going to be a great year. It was exciting to see the list of kids names on the wall, its the same school and same way I used to find out who my teacher was when I went to that school. She got to see a lot of her friends who she hasnt seen in months. We now know who both the kids teachers are and now have 3 days off before the official school year starts.

Soccer Practice

Well its official, I turned in Tiago's registration forms for the SDFA U-7 team. My boy is in club soccer once and for all. I have a feeling this is where he will be for a long time to come and to make it even better we are bringing along some of his friends, or should I say, some of my friends kids, lol! Today we car pooled with Anthony who is our friend Leilini's cousin and played at the ymca this summer so Tiago played a couple games with him. His old sister plays for another club but we hope next year we can get all of them playing for the same club which would be this club. There is also another little boy from the same YMCA team that has joined this team already named Pete. I have invited 3 other boys and hope they will come next week and there is already a boy on the team that we are becoming close to his family because papa coaches 2 of their other sons, they are from Utah and did their mormon mission in Brasil so the dad speaks portuguese. Im excited, I was afriad we wouldnt know anyone and now we already know several. I have to take Tiago to and from practice since papa doesnt get done coaching till 8pm and tiago practice is over at 6pm. With school starting I need to get him home, showered, fed and in bed before papa even walks in that door. It sucks we both have to drive to the same place and even worse, we barely even get to see or talk to papa, he doesnt get to sit and watch tiago's practices, he is a few fields over and many people and teams in between us. I try to walk over and say hi to the parents of the teams papa coach but I am there for Tiago and I do my best to cheer him on and encourage him and his friend Anthony. They had a lot of fun, Im glad they have each other now. They were so cute on the drive to and from practice. I left the girls with my mom so I just had the boys and let me tell ya it was a different experience for sure. I was cracking up, trying to drive. This is going to be fun! Im excited, their first game is Sept 15th.

Tiago and Anthony
my stud
tiago and anthony talking in line together, they always wanted to go at the same time, so they paired up

Anthony was born the exact same week as Tiago even though he is about a foot taller
dribbling in and out of the cones, thats coach V. The club has Coach O (chinese womans national team captian in 2005), Coach V and our own papa who is Coach Ze. All the foreign coaches names are too hard or long so they just use 1 letter, lol!
Love him
Anthony learned a step over and loved it

Surprise

The days left of summer are slipping away and becoming less and less each day. We are having car iusses as always and papa is leaving for the weekend again so a lot of stuff we are trying to get done but trying to hang out with the kids too, so today I had a $10 gift card for mini golf, so after we did a few errands we surprised the kids and took them to family fun center. Its called boomers but when I grew up it was family fun center and I still cant change the name in my head, either way they have batting cages, rides, games, mini golf and go karts. I told the kids we wer eonly doing rides and golf, then we had to get back so papa could go to work plus it was super hot outside and my $10 was not going to last that long, lol! They were excited and we had fun. Bita slept through most of golf so I held her but papa played with the kids and its pretty obvious we are not a golf family. Thais has effort but strength and tiago has too much strength and no aim. The kid lost 3 golf balls in bushes, over fences and in ponds. Hilarious! Once bita woke up, we let her throw the ball down the green way then run and chase it and pick it up. Hey what ever works, she had a blast. Then we went over to the kiddie rides. Bita was too small for all of them but she had fun watching. Thais wanted to do the giant ferris wheel first, tiago refused. They are so different when it comes to rides, she is our daring one, no fear, tiago is more reserved likes to understand the entire ride before going on it. They did about 4 rides then we called it a day and went home. We had to rest for Tiago had club team soccer practice this evening again and it wears him out. More on that in the next post. For now, this family had fun at family fun center.

of course Thais picked story book land of the 2 golf courses, next time i promised tiago we would do western world
as if brasilians are good golfers but they are trying
hope he didnt break any car windows on the freeway behind the wall

Party

This week my cousin Stacy who is like my sister and best friend, had her birthday on Monday and my Godson (her son) had his birthday on Wednesday. The kids and I went shopping a few days before and bought presents and cake mix for the party but the party kept getting pushed back but we finally had it Wednesday before we went to dinner for Tiago's basketball team party. We didnt plan on having cake before pizza but hey... why not? The team party was fun, we were late as we had our other party but it worked out fine. My friend had won a free pizza dinner at the church fiesta and gave it to us, so our pizza party ended up being free. Well not totally free since we spent all kinds of quarters on the video games lol! We even hung around to be the last ones so papa could come join us after he got off work. Tiago really wanted to play him in air hockey and he did, he says he won, I was too busy eating al you can eat salad bar with the baby lol! I did get to play mrs pac man and teach my kids all about the old skol games. It was fun! Had a great time at both parties! Still cant believe my godson is 20, considering he was born right before I got to high school, a toddler all through high school and I used to drive him to elementary school before I went to college and now he isnt even a teenager anymore. Crazy! I swear I cant be that old, lol! But the more I see Thais and Tiago going into 1st and K, they just seem taller and older too. Life goes quick!!! Trying my best to enjoy it!
