Milestone Monday

This is a cheater version of the usual Milestone Monday, lol! I really dont have anything that I saved up from all week, but I will tell you about the last few days. Nothing all that exciting, no new adventures, just leaving the house is hard these days. The rainy weather, and papa and the mile long list of things I only have about 10 days to doit in.... why leave the house, when i have so much to do here? Well I have to leave because my kids drive me crazy if I dont get them outside.

So Papa's team won the 1st round of playoffs. They won 2-0 Friday at home and lost 1-0 Sunday in Charleston but when you add up all the goals from both games, they still won 2-1 and advance to the semi's. It wasnt the best game we have played, actually probably one of the ugliest but it is still a win and we still advance, so we have another home game this Friday and an away game in Puerto Rico on Sunday. Who ever has the most goals in the end will advance to the Championship game for the title. Puerto Rico is in 1st place and won the regular season and is at the top of their game, but we also had not beat charleston all season and we eliminated them, so you never know what can happen during playoffs.

Sooooo today is day 6 post op and 10 day countdown till we move, quite the odd spot but we are doing ok. Papa is still living in the living room which I call the war zone as the kids are climbing and jumping on him all day long, but he is able to try and do a bit more to help out. He has changed a few diapers and gotten a few cups of juice, so he is trying through his pain. He has reahb again tomorrow, 3 days a week.

I on the other hand went out and got some boxes, packing tape and totes for stuff that is staying in NY. I have notified the kids teachers hen our last class will be and am working on refunds for the classes we wont make. My mom has found some gymnastics and dance classes in San Diego so hopefully the kids will pick right back up and not miss much. Im trying to organize, clean, pack and order as much as I can this week so our stuff is in San Diego when we get there. Kind of crazy but when I am sitting on the beach, watching my kids play in the ocean with a drink in my hand.... it will all be worth it.

I will share with you the funniest story so far this week. Yesterday Thais went and lied down in her bed around 7pm which is a good 3 or 4 hours before her bed time and right away I thought, oh no she is sick again. So I ran in there and asked her what she was doing. Her reply was, "look momma, I am a Papa." Of course meaning she was being like papa and laying in bed, which he does all day. It was so sad and so cute at the same time.

Thais can now dress herself, even with her big complicated princess dresses, she is so proud. She pees all on her own now too and can put back on hen>r "chonies". Granted they are backwards or inside out sometimes, but who am I to judge her style or effort?
;

I read online on another latina moms blog about another ladies blog who serves her kids food in a cupcake tray. Thais is a very picky eater so I was willing to try it. This is a ham, egg and cheese sandwich, but served separately and both kids ate it all up.

The packing and moving begins and the kids love it

Lunch at McDonalds, the only indoor playground I know around here.

Then a trip to Barnes n Noble for the train table

And Thais got to go on the big stage area. She told me to sit and watch her magic show. So I did, the video is below the picture.

So thats it, a bunch of nothing but busy as ever.

Saturday

Ok first off, these blogs are each taking me like 3 hrs to put together. I am asked to get something for some one every time i sit down. Papa needs ice, pillows, water, meds and the kids need food, diapers, help on the toilet, juice, toys, then i did laundry, dishes, vacuum, cleaned and we had guests today. On top of the kids class, a visit to mely's, a walk to the park, its crazy! I have not watched any of my tv shows since Sunday, so if you call me, dont talk tv for I have them all recorded but havnt watched them, lol!

Ok so today..... we woke up early and went straight to the kids dance class. I woke up Tia Lulu and she went with us. Papa went last week and mely will go next week. We only had 3 classes left and I wanted to make sure everyone got a turn to see the kids. The house is a disaster after our long and exciting night last night, but I dealt with that later. Class was good, the kids did their usual, Thais stared in the mirror and Tiago played in the hallway but they did get some dancing in. Tiago even wore Thais's shoes for the 2nd half of class. Hey what ever works...

We wanted papa to get some rest, the guys had already left for their trip to charleston, so we went and bothered mely and nela for awhile. Destroyed her house for an hour or so then came back to our house to do some serious cleaning before our guests from Albany showed up around 2pm. You remember cousins Dede from last month who came and spent the day with us, well his brother is visiting from Kosovo so they both came over for the afternoon. They were going to try and make the game last night but didnt. So they wanted to come check on papa and say good bye to us before we move to San Diego. Except after some talking, i think cousin Dede is going to move to San Diego after the New Year. He used to live there and regrets ever leaving, so he is seriously considering going back and since we will be there, he wants to do it now so we can show him the ropes again. I will have to keep you updated if he does or not. His brother spoke no english but we had a good visit. We walked them out and went for a walk and met up with mely again. Then I called it a day and spent the next 3 hrs trying to blog these 2 simple posts, lol!

Game Recap

We made it to the game and what a game it was, well the last 5 minutes at least. The day started out early and after a long night, we were really tired, but we kept all of our appts and made the game. Believe me there were moments through out the day that papa and i both said we would not be going to the game, it was just that kind of day.

Tiago's speech therapy went great, his new word is "car" which the "KA" sound is a new and hard sound to make, he also learned 4 sign language signs, but he did great as usual.

Papa's knee therapy was over 2 hrs long and he was in lots of pain and very tired when he got home, but he couldnt rest as he only had 20 mins to shower and change before having to leave with the team to the game. He did get his bandages changed and stitches out, so for the first time we saw his bare leg and all the bruising, bleeding and swelling, not to mention the incision. Not a picture I will be sharing any time soon, sorry! I am taking them though to look back on later but I know some of you read this while on lunch break, so I will save you.

We had to take 2 cars of wives to the game plus we met Denise there so we were quite the group once again. It was cold and windy and lots of mist, which wasnt exactly rain but it was wet. The first 20 mins of the game it was misty so we moved up to the VIP area to stay dry and keep baby Nela from getting sick. Oh she also had a doc appt and now weighs 10 pounds. Yes you read that right, 10 pounds, our baby is getting so big already. The problem with the VIP area while it has free food and beer, it also has all the free area to roam which is great for the kids and horrible for adults because we want to watch the game, especially this playoff game, but the kids are running around like crazy. Of course once we moved up there the mist left and the night was great, still cold and windy but not as wet. Papa did sit with us though because sitting on the bench was too dangerous since he cant bend his knee, we didnt want anything or anyone running into him. The rest of the none playing players sat on the field, except papa.

The game itself was not all that great. Few chances here and there but it just felt like a regular game, not a do or die playoff game that it was. That was until the last 20 mins or so. Rochester really put the pressure on towards the end of the game and it paid off for they got 2 goals in 4 mins of each other in the last 5 mins of the game. We were so excited and fans were crying and people were screaming, it really became an intense game with players pushing and fighting and balls hitting crossbars. It was a wild way to end it, but we won and thats all that mattered. Now the team is on its way to South Carolina for the 2nd game on Sunday. Charleston has to score at least 2 goals and keep us from scoring any more. Who ever has the most goals at the end of game 2, wins and so far we have 2 and they have 0. The game will be on national television on Fox Soccer Channel at 8pm eastern time, Sunday night. Mely and I invited players and wives to our house but there is also a fan viewing party of the game at a local bar, so some people will be going there. Either way we will be watching and cheering on papa's team to go to the next round of playoffs. We hope you will too!

Oh i almost forgot, papa must have had each and every person come and talk to him and I mean it. From the ushers to fans to kids to players on the other team, and of course his own players, coaches, owner, staff, cheer leaders and wives came up and wished him well, asked how he was, offered support and help and were just all in all, fantastic. Cant forget the newspaper reporter who asked me all about the surgery before the game and it made todays newspaper, so now everyone knows.

My soccer kids, my son sleeps with his soccer ball

Thais put her rhino soccer shirt on herself before bed, of course it is backwards but you can see all the autographs.

We take up about 3 rows once you get all the wives and kids together

Papa with Tiago watching the game

Trying to keep the kids occupied and sitting down, it didnt last long

The wives club, latina style (Denise is an honorary member as she says)

And while we were taking pictures, the kids were hiding under the table, then running around

We got a very special visit from Rex the Rhino who autographed Thais's shirt

Alex and Tiago were scared, deathly scared of getting any where near Rex, but Tony and Thais love the Rhino

Under all the wind coverage is 10 pound baby nela, sleeping peacefully through all that noise and screaming. Hey might as well get her used to it now.

Game on

Fans throwing streamers at the other teams player during corner kicks

As if we dont have enough kids, Denise had her boys and her nephew Samy at the game

Back to normal

(3 new posts be sure to scroll down)

Well we are trying to keep some type of normalcy in our days. This week seems like the longest one in my life, but I am trying to make it as normal as possible for the kids. I am attempting to continue them in their classes regardless of our horrible sleep and random night sickness. We woke up and while we were a good 20 mins late (i am hardly ever late, so you know Im struggling), we eventually made it to class. First was music, then painting and finally open play. Of course most of open play i was on the phone with papa's doctors trying to get him more meds and setting up appts, but the teacher knew and helped watched my kids while I stepped outside to use the phone. Painting was fun, the kids decorated different size paper plates, with one set of paint, one set of markers and one set of crayons. Then we folded them in half and stapled half of it shut. Poured in uncooked rice in some and unpopped popcorn in others and then continued to stapled it shut. We used some tap and bam.... we had shakers/ macracas. The popcorn filled ones were louder and at the end of class we had a song with the loud ones and the soft ones. It was fun and a nice break from the chaos that I call life right now.

We ran and got more drugs for papa after class, then came home and did lunch and naps. I forget how much papa does when he is healthy, I was taking out the trash and bathing kids and doing things that he usually does, plus my stuff and taking care of all 3 of them. Not to mention we are now just 2 wks away from moving to San Diego, of which I bought our plane tickets last night. So much to do and so little time. So I actually put the kids down to sleep early because I couldnt keep my eyes open any longer and I went to sleep for 2 hrs, It was the deepest sleep I have had in along time, when i woke up to my phone going off, I didnt know where I was, what day it was and i thought it was morning but it was 4 o'clock in the afternoon, lol! So we got up and cleaned up and tried to get a little organized which is really just throw stuff in either our room or the kids room and deal with it later. I got the kids dressed, called Mely and we went to the park. Of course we stopped for some pine cone art and then chalk drawings before it was getting cold and dark. So we came home and did baths and dinner of which i totally let the kids eat in their room in front of a movie because I just wanted them out of the way. I know it sounds horrible, but its true and thats how I ended up here, typing this. Now I also have a pile of papers that need signatures and stamps next to me, but here i sit blogging. Got to love it...

Tomorrow is another full day. Tiago has speech in the morning, Nela has her 2 month appt then Papa starts rehab and gets his bandages changed. We come home just in time to shower and get ready for the teams first playoff game at 7:30pm and the first time Papa will be seeing his team post op. They have been great though, with the phone calls and messages they have sent. So it will probably be another few days before I blog but Im trying to not fall too far behind. I better post this and get ready for another long night. Check in soon!
