Halloween 2011

It is finally the night of Halloween. We are on our 6th day of celebrating and of course the kids changed costumes from the ones they wore at school today. Its totally up to them. My cousins came over which was good, I had not seen them in over a week at least but the Charger game was on MOnday night football so it kind of messed up our schedule. It did make for an interesting night though as we went to certain peoples houses, they would open the door and we would watch the game or get updates. It was fun! Papa and I, Jordan and her boyfriend took the kids for the first hours up a couple streets, then we came back at half time and my mom and Rod took the kids the other direction. Oddly enough when papa and I had the kids we ran into a neighbor whom I just met with all the school closure meetings going on and here we are trick or treating together. Some things are just meant to work out and this for sure did. It was fun, I know more neighbors now than I ever have before. The kids got lots of candy, Thais would ask for one of the three candies she eats and if they didnt have it, she would say "Oh never mind then" and walk away. It was pretty funny. One time she opened the mail slot and yelled in it, "Anyone home?". we didnt buy any candy to pass out, we just used the extra candy the kids didnt want from Disneyland, birthday parties this weekend, pinatas, school, cheer and since we broke our trick or treating into 2 shifts, we sorted the candy at the break and passed back out what we didnt want. It worked out great! Our house was greatly decorated, we didnt even carve pumpkins but we did decorate empty milk gallons and places lights in them. It was fun! I got the idea from pinterest. I love that website and i am determined to actually complete some of the ideas I get from it. It was nice to have papa home. I began to get really sore, I ran 4.5 miles earlier that day and with the walking and parades and now trick or treating, my body was done. I took photos but not great ones, I just took them to take them and papa took many of them too. We did it though, another San Diego Halloween is in the books, now on to November!

School Halloween

Well this was a first for me. We didnt enroll Thais in pre school last year until November so we didnt dress up for school Halloween and now today I have 2 kid sin 2 schools with 2 Halloween parades. What a difference a year makes huh? I was so excited for them, I actually remember walking in my 2nd grade school parade at the same school Thais walked at today. It was kind of dejavu to tell ya the truth. Regardless I was one proud mama. I volunteered to help in both classes today and it was fun to help all the kids get dressed up. I think several of my fav were speed racer and charlie brown. I later saw a sock monkey, it was awesome and my fav adult costume was Chunk from goonies and fav couple was dog the bounty hunter and beth. It was a fun year and today was a fun day.

Thais is on costume number 5 i think and Tiago is on number 2 both of which he has worn year before. I love it!

Weekend Fun

Every year for Halloween I am invited to the same 3 parties and with this being our 3rd Halloween in san Diego in a row, I have attended each party one time. The first year was my friend Amy's Adult party and we drank, last year was my friend Rachels adult party and I went pregnant but still had fun and this year it was my friend Tara's kids dual birthday party. It was so much fun! I just saw her at Thais's birthday party but we still dont see each other nearly enough. The kids had so much fun in her amazingly decorated house. Im not sure if there was a single wall that was not decorated from the front yard to the back yard and every room in between. It was amazing! The garage was a dance party room, the kids ran every where. They were tired before we got there, so imagine how tired they were by the time we left. So so much fun not sure what we will do next year as we enjoy each of the 3 parties in different ways and they all usually fall on the same day.

Sunday we had another birthday to go to but this time it was a water park party. Again kids had a blast and in 80 degree weather, it worked out just perfect. Fun, busy weekend but we love spending time with our loved ones! Its like I have 2 sets of friends, the kids week day school, cheer, soccer friends then I get to see my friends on the weekends. All about balance right?

I got my first win today as a coach. Papa was out of town, My cousin Rod was working, all the other dads were busy or scared, I dont know. All I do know is I was the only on the field with those kids so I became the coach. I am already the team mom, so why not, right? I tried my best to let the kids lead and let them pick their positions, goalie, forward, etc. We have a good mix of players, Tiago and Leilani are my goal scores, Carlos and Itzel are my defenders, Adam and Matthew are my any where players and Julie, Miley and her sister are my players who run but never touch the ball. I was missing 2 players adam and miley sister, so we played with all 7 on the field and my goal scorers went in goal the first 2 quarters, then my 2 defenders and thats all by their choice. It was tied 1-1 at half time as my forwards took turns playing goalie, then in the 2nd half, Leilana got hot and scored 3 goals and we won. I spent a lot of time just trying to get Julie and Miley to touch the ball, they dont ind running after it, but when it gets close to them, they shy away and both always complain of their shoes. I was very proud, of the kids and that I finally stepped up and just coached. Thank you to my mom ho held the baby most the game and to Stacy who took all these photos for me since I was coaching.
