Monday Milestone

Im trying to stay up to date, we shall see if this continues once baby 3 is born, lol! I just have a few things for Monday Milestone this week, I always say that then end up making some long post. Oh well, thats me and this is my blog, lol!

Papa- papa is going out of town this weekend for 2 games, as I mentioned in the last post. He is almost done coaching his boys team, only 2 weeks left and so far they are 7 wins, 1 tie and 2 losses. I am assuming they will make play offs but we shall see. Our summer plans are now coming together but those change daily so Im not posting anything on that till we know for sure.

Mama- I am now 34.5 weeks pregnant and doing ok. I have a lot of back ache but not from labor, just weighing the most I have ever weighed and my back is suffering from it. If and when we are to ever get pregnant again after this, I must lose more weight before I get pregnant because my back cant handle all this weight. Speaking of which, if you dont follow my other blog on my weight loss, I am gearing up to lose all this weight plus more once and for all. Of course nothing will start till weeks after i give birth but Im making good habits even now while still enjoying the perks of being pregnant. I went for a 45 min walk today and felt great, and took Kobae the tortoise 2 days ago, so Im still trying to be active. I have an appt for baby 3 tomorrow and am supposed to discuss which hospital I want to give birth at. I still dont know, I have the choice of one of the best in the nation but feels more like a baby factory or a lesser known hospital almost empty but you get a lot of nurse attention. Im sure I wont even make a choice till Im talking to the doc tomorrow. Baby 3 gets hiccups a lot and the butt is still under my right boob. I dont feel like baby has dropped even though some others have said I have. I have a baby shower planned for Feb 13th and I feel more than blessed that baby 3 is being treated just as special as a first baby. That has always been a concern of mine and not knowing the gender has made it an even bigger challenge but one i wouldnt change none the less. Since Im finally home and plan on giving birth in Sn Diego, my bff said it feels like a 1st baby anyways. We are down to 3 boy names and about 5 girl names. We have our fav top 2 but we always go to the hospital with a few names just in case he or she doesnt look like the name we picked. We are still shopping for a bigger car so we can fit all 3 car seats in the car at the same time, obviously hoping to get that done before I give birth, lol! We have not pulled out the baby stuff yet will probably wait another 2 weeks or so, around the baby shower so I can see what all we still need. Im getting so excited to meet this lil one though, as you can tell its all I can think about these days.

Thais- This girl is not only making up her own songs which she is actually really good at but she is picking up new songs at school every day. The school songs usually have to do with the letter of the week, like the nut song for letter N and Octopus song for the letter O. I will try to get them on video. As for her own songs, we give her a subject and she makes up a song about that subject. Im seriously impressed with that skill of hers. I do have video of her singing a swahili song which made all her Kenyan uncles and aunties very proud. She is also very polite and asks things like "Care for a drink?" and "of course" when I ask her to do something. She is also learning sign language in her class. The other day on a non school day when Tiago was sick and sleeping, Thais and I spent hours playing games like memory, go fish, hi ho cheery, cutting and pasting and finally I signed Thais up for a drama class but it is full so she is on the waiting list. Its only twice a month and while there are openings in March since Im due then I was trying to get her in the class in February. I will keep you posted.

Tiago- its been a tough 2 weeks for this boy but it hasnt stopped him from still being his silly self. It has turned him into quite the whiner because he was sick, we have been doing what he has asked and giving him everything he has asked for and now that he is on the road to recovery, it is back firing on us, lol! He still is not 100% and takes several naps a day and has no desire to go any where, but he will play a little bit more each day with this toys. His lips are still not healed which means he still cant eat normally but there is an improvement and thats all i can ask for. So his nick name is "mano" from "hermano" in spanish when he was born Thais was 14 months old and could only say "Mano" but my cousin Rod calls him "manolito" which is "little brother" in spanish (very slang) So i called Tiago "dude" the other day, sounded just like my dad and Tiago said to me "My name is not dude it is manolito, got it mama?" I sure do son! Tiago randomly counts in spanish now and actually prefers it a lot and we always encourage it. Thais only spoke spanish for the 1st yr of her life but when we moved back to the USA she lost it and we never even tried with Tiago so when he speaks it, we are very happy and surprised by it. Tiago is really getting into the idea of the baby now. He spoke to my belly the other night and said, "hi brother" then said to me, "mama the baby is going to come soon right?" Then he tells me, "If its a girl, we try again and if its a boy we try again" He tells everyone, "We dont know if it is a boy or girl, we have to wait" Im still the most nervous about him becoming a big sibling more than Thais but I am encouraged with his recent behavior. My entire 4d ultra sound, he held my hand and didnt care to look at the screen at all. He just wanted to hold my hand and make sure his mama was ok. And finally we went to church yesterday and after they came back from childrens church, Tiago wanted to leave asap and I was tying to calm him down, he says to me, "Why do we always come here for Jesus but we never see him?" I explain, "Jesus lives in your heart son" so he replies with " Well I want him to come out" So today Rod is here and Tiago tells him "Jesus lives in your heart, he just wants us to be happy". I know I still have a long way to go with explaining religion to them but I am a lot farther than I ever thought I would be.

Gaby- Not much new to report on my step son Gaby. They went to go change his birth certificate and were told to go to the consulate instead. So still working on step 1 of the process but he is enjoying his new bike greatly and tells his new cousins he plans on going to college in the USA, so he is studying hard and we couldnt be more proud of him.

Kobae- A funny thing happened this evening. There was a knock on the door, I assumed girl scouts and didnt get up to answer it, but they knocked again so I went to the door and looked through the peep hole and recognized the face from the guy on the news. I was shocked, so I opened the door and he said, "Hi im so and so from channel 7" and I cut him off and said, "Yes you are, I know". So then he asks me, "Is this the house of the guy who walks a giant tortoise?" I just laugh and answer "yes". So long story short he "heard" about this guy (my dad) who walks this giant tortoise and after asking all the neighbors, they all pointed to our house. Im not sure if this is a good or bad thing but I think good. So he wants to do a story on Kobae and will come back in a few weeks to record him being walked. Since my dad is in Moab Utah, I guess this means my big pregnant self will be on tv with Kobae. I dont know who told him or called him and I really dont mind, as long as I dont look like a freak but even if so, what ever. He is a part of our family and has been for 10 years and for many more to come. I will keep you posted when they come film. This is a video of our walk, my phone keeps losing the light in shadows but Kobae was on the move.

I want to mention 2 more things, 1 is, I receive a daily message from God on my facebook acct, I know sounds crazy but its better than a horoscope and I will start sharing them here when I remember. Todays is "You may think you have challenges, but you have so many blessings. Sometimes it takes only a moment of conscious effort to recognize those blessings. Once you focus on the gifts instead of the problems, your whole perspective will change and you will see blessings everywhere. "

and 2 is I am a big supporter of car seats and some of my friends call me a car seat nazi or freak and Im proud of that too. I believe in extended rear facing, extended 5 point harnessing and and keeping kids in booster seats till 80 pounds which is sometimes up to 10 years old. I have tons and tons of videos and am always checking my friends car seats and when someone in our circle gets pregnant, Im the first one at their house helping them install their car seats. There is a new video on why booster seats need to be used and im very excited about it. Kind of graphic but it seems those are the only ones that people really ever pay attention to, so here it is booster seat video

Yep as usual a longer post than I ever intended. Happy Monday everyone, I will check in tomorrow after baby 3's doc appt.

Sockers Win

Papa's team won again on Saturday night. As usual they started off losing then took control and ended up wining by a lot. I took both kids and they both feel asleep during the game which again is really rare and just proves they are not 100% yet but we did make it and thats important. Papa had an amazing game as usual and even got into a "fight". He says he just pushed the guy, i think he punched the guy but hey... no cards or punishment were given so I guess it was just a misunderstanding, lol! You can watch the replay of the game and decide for yourself. There was another fight that results in 2 red cards and players being thrown out of the game but thankfully my husband was not a part of that fight. There were several really nice goals and you can see those on the high light video linked below. The oldest player on the team had his highest scoring game and the crowd was the 2nd largest in team history. It was such a special night for so many reasons. I keep waiting for photos since my big pregnant butt hasnt been taking any but I have not found any online, so I figured I better post this before it was old news. The team is going out of town for 4 days this weekend, yes that means papa too. I am still 5 weeks away from giving birth so Im not too worried about going into labor while he is gone but him being out of town, is always a risk. He will be in Tacoma if anyone is in the area and wants to go to either game on Friday or Saturday, let me know. For now enjoy the videos and articles below....

Breath of Fresh Air

My sweet boy has been sick on and off since his black eye 13 days ago. How ever when Thais and I went to the zoo, he got fever blisters on his lips and since then (5 days now) it has been really hard for him to eat which has made him sleeping or laying around most days. It truly has been heart breaking to say the least as even he doesnt know what he wants because there isnt much you can do for blistered lips, but wait it out. We took him to the doc for meds and have been giving him other meds and trying to heal his lips but to say this has been easy would be a huge lie. He just cries and there is blood every where, I know he is hungry but its so hard to feed him. Thankfully yesterday (Friday) he was able to eat a little bit more and even played with some of his toys. Most days he mentions something he wants to eat and off to the store we go running. We have done icees, milk shakes, popsicles, doughnut holes, sausage bites, soup, and cutting things into tiny bites and placing them on tooth picks to pass over his lips but they still end up bleeding. My mom and husband have helped a ton with taking shifts with him, as someone has to be with at all times. He has slept with us every night but he usually wakes up once an hour crying, so no one has had a good nights sleeps in weeks. Its been a tough week, a real tough one but I am praying we are on the better end of it now. My whole goal all week was for him to be healthy enough to go to his papa's game tonight and Im still hoping for it. You can listen and watch the game online tonight at 6pm pacific time at http://www.livestream.com/619sports

Now the breath of fresh air part of the post, is I finally got out of the house yesterday to go for a walk and I took Kobae with me. It has been fantastic weather but sadly I just havnt had the time to take Kobae out. So on Wednesday he did another dare devil flying act and jumped off the wall, but this time he landed upside down and could have died or been seriously hurt. I think that was his way of saying, "Take me out". So off we went, just for 90 minutes or so but he was happy and it was nice for this 34 week pregnant chick to get out of the house. Kobae was living with us in Montreal both times when I was pregnant with Thais and Tiago, so it felt right to be out walking around pregnant with him by my side once again.

My love letter from Thais

At Childrens hospital with the Ronald McDonald house

Just a few of the meds we have been using all week

Only way I could photograph my preggo belly and Kobae together

Got about 15 people who came out and talked to us on our walk. The neighborhood loves Kobae

Field Trip

Thais had her first field trip today and while I should, could and would have stayed home.... I didn't, lol! I was not going to miss my baby girls 1st school field trip. Papa said he would have gone but he was afraid he would have screwed it up and she wouldnt have had as much fun if he went. So i did my best to rest yesterday, then woke up bright and early Monday morning which in itself isnt me. I had about 5 cups of hot chocolate and some hot oatmeal, packed some snacks and drinks, then woke up Thais and got her ready and out the door we went. I felt super bad leaving Tiago at home but he wasnt feeling 100% either, and I wanted this moment just for Thais and her school friends. I know I raise them as twins, but at some point they do have to do individual things and this was one of them. We got stuck in some morning traffic which just reminded me, I hate traffic and dont know how people deal with it everyday, but we finally made it to the San Diego Zoo by 8:45am which is 15 minutes before the zoo even opens. For being none morning people and sick on top of that, I was dang proud of us and especially myself.

Being outdoors was some what good for me, but being around all the plants and animals also wasnt so good for me or my allergies. How ever, I took control as usual, and was proud to see my daughter with the map in the front of the pack directing this huge group of people where to go, just like her mama would. Thais only has 8 kids in her class but she is only 1 of 3 classes so you add one parent to each kid and we were close to 50 people for this field trip with teachers and everyone else too. Our first stop was the bus tour and once again, Thais was first in line, sat on the top deck in the front row, with no guidance from me, but I would have done the same thing, lol! She sat with one of the girls from her class who ended up being her best friend for the day and pretty much at school all the time. It was cute to see my daughter interact with school friends all day. To see who she is around friends and not her brother or family all the time. That was probably one of my fav parts of this whole day.

Believe it or not, after the 1 hour bus tour, the school director said, "Ok we can split into groups and if we dont see you, have fun, see at the next day of school." I was shocked because I thought we would have to be a group of 50 all day but I ended up being glad we did break up. So we went with Thais best friend and her mom and one of the sets of twins over to the childrens zoo. They played on the play ground when some random kid, started punching the girls including Thais and one of her male class mates went over and started punching the kid back... it was right out of a movie, it was crazy! Thankfully the other boy left, but eventually we left the play ground to go pet the animals and see a show. Of course Thais was picked for the show, the girl is going to be a star I swear. After the show, the twins went home so it was just me and 1 other mom for the rest of the day.

We sat down for some snacks and lunch, and made out a plan of what we really wanted to do in the next hour or so before we left for the afternoon. We ended up riding the skyfari ride to the polar bear exhibit and letting the kids play there for awhile, then walked over to see the pandas and finally walked back to the front of the zoo and went home right past 2pm. It was a very long 5 hours but well worth it. It really wasnt that hard, It was a lot of walking but I sat enough in between to not be in any real pain and snacked enough through out the day to keep my energy up and my sickness on hold. Once I reached home though... i was exhausted and went to bed. Another day of firsts and Im glad I was a part of it.

Birthday Party

I was up in my room recovering most the day but my brother and wife and daughter drove down from LA for her 6th birthday party today at the house. I did get up in the morning and get the exact gift I was looking for which took me to several stores but once i came home, I was exhausted and I had to get ready for the zoo trip tomorrow. I am glad I was able to be a part of the party even if I wasnt 100%. Happy Birthday!!!

Monster Post of Monster Trucks

The day had finally come... my little boy was going to see his new favorite thing of Monster Trucks. Honestly i had no idea about monster trucks till we were in Brasil this summer and just happen to buy a monster truck dvd at a toy store at the local mall in Sao Luis, Brasil. It came with a mini truck and next thing I knew, my son was hooked. We came to the USA and when I took Tiago for his yearly photos he happen to see a toy monster truck while we were waiting for pictures so i got it for him. A week or so later my mom saw the trucks on sale at the local grocery store, I gave her $20 and said go buy a few for him and she did. Then we started to learn the different names and drivers and about the "league", we found a few monster truck competitions on tv on the speed network. Then as if fate wasnt talking to us enough... we found out the monster trucks were coming live and direct to San Diego in just a few weeks. Now we were excited, i told Tiago about it and of course he thought we were going that day but he waited patiently for weeks and now the day had finally come.

So we made this an even bigger day by going with 20 of our friends and family, we got pit passes for before the event, club seating right on the finish line and had our friends take their rv down to tail gate 5 hours before the main event even started. It was an incredible day! Sadly papa was not back from his Vegas trip, and my cousins were busy doing stuff, so it was just me and the kids all morning, packing and getting ready but we did it! So we headed down to meet friends at 2pm and tail gated till 3pm when the pits opened. Sadly they made us walk all the around the entire stadium to get to the pits. This was not an easy task for myself or my kids but we finally made it. Upon entering the pits, the kids got their faces painted then we went and saw all the trucks up close and met several drivers. You could tell Tiago was getting tired and I needed to sit down so we headed back to the rv and thankfully we didnt have to walk all the way back around again. I had this all planned for Tiago's nap but then my cousins showed up and wanted to take Tiago to the pits so back he went on their shoulders of course. So the pits finally close and we have about another hour before the show starts, so we bbq and finally papa makes it to join us. I have to say, Thais is such the hostess, she was passing out chips, and setting up the food table, waving hi from the inside the rv, playing games with the other kids. She truly enjoyed the tail gating part, I believe more so than the truck show itself, lol!

So we get to our amazing seats. My girlfriend Nicole, had her mom get the tickets with pit passes at discount from her work and all 20 of us are in the same row. They were amazing seats and our friend who goes every single year told us these were the best seats he ever had. So we were hooked up and for cheap, love it! So we all kind of have our fav trucks but Tiago likes to give us one also. So the first half of the event is 1 v 1 races around the track and they keep going from 18 trucks down to 1. So that was fun, my truck racing papa's truck and so on. The 2nd half of the event is free style jumping for points. Out of 18 trucks, I believe only 3 made it the entire 2 mins without crashing, flipping over, popping a tire, or even catching on fire. It was pretty crazy to say the least but very exciting! For my first time, I was highly impressed. They use bull dozers to flip the trucks back over and that was exciting enough for Tiago, lol! The kids both actually feel asleep right before intermission but it was a good break for them. I am amazed they could fall asleep with all the noise but it was a long day and made them enjoy the 2nd half even more. We will for sure be going to this every year! Now for the over load of photos.....
