Happy Birthday Thais!!

Since we wont be near a computer on Thais's 2nd birthday, I am posting her invite now.
Can you believe my baby girl is 2 yrs old??? I couldnt be more in love with my baby girl, she makes me laugh every day and she truly is my best friend and i am proud she calls me "mama". Its amazing what a great kid she is and her ability to adapt to anyhting really impresses me. I love you baby girl!!!

Au revoir Canada!!

Well after 3 straight yrs and 6 summers, we are moving back to the states. Thats right, we are leaving Canada, unsure if we will return. What we do know is we are going away from our regular life for a few weeks and taking a well deserved break. We have enjoyed Canada and call it home, but right now we dont really know where home is, nor does it matter. We have each other and are happy with just that. So these are our last few pixs of our days in north america....

Good deeds

So we moved to Vancouver with about 30 boxes, 8 weeks ago and are now leaving with 8. We have given away over $600 worth of stuff and as tough as it was. I am very happy to do it. Today the little girl who is getting Thais's entire bedroom furniture set, came and got everything. The bed, 9 bucket shelves, 2 chairs, dora toy box, 3 full boxes of toys, dolls, books, her motorcycle, we gave them all of our food and even our chairs and paper shredder. And tomorrow my neighbor is taking the big stroller and infant car seat to a donation center for the Native American/ First Nations of Canada. Its great, i am glad it is all going to good use. The little girl today was so excited. Her dad came in his work truck (landscaper) in the rain, so the lid protected them from the rain. Thais wasnt upset at all, i was so proud of her. The guy is from England and said he had to do the same hting when they moved to Canada. So i really do believe what goes around, comes around. Its all about good fate. Then Ze gave him an autograph. It was great!!! If we come back to vancouver, we will met up with them again.

36 hrs and counting till Brasil

The clock is ticking down folks. These are the final hours to our long awaited trip to Brasil as a family of four. This is a long time in the making and I am finally getting excited, now that most of the other stuff is out of the way. Trying to relaxe a bit and say good bye to Vancouver as we are moving to the states for the winter, too! So excited to be traveling again, and now with our son and daughter too. This is what life is about.... and seeing my in laws and Thais turning 2 yrs old.... we will talk about these next few weeks for our entire lives. I am ready for it to begin, just 36 more hrs.

It will all be worth it...

Thats what I keep saying to myself. This move is by far the hardest I can ever remember. Today was THE most exhausting day and I am surprised that Ze and I are doing so well. Everyone knows we dont get along when it comes to packing. Ze throws everything away and I keep everything. But as much as we fight, its always fun to make up too! We didnt finish today but we made a big dent in our packing. We hope to mail and ship everything tomorrow. Today though we had 2 really good moments. The first being Ze got all of his visa's taken care of. So we are very thankful for that and now all of us are legal and ready to travel. The second neat thing was we had Bob and Eddy over for dinner. It was a lot of fun and just what we needed to get our minds off packing for a few hrs. Now Ze is out with the boys shooting some pool, and me and the kids made cookies. So it was a good break. Tomorrow is our final push as its the last business day we are in Canada and have to get everything done. OK time to get these babies to bed, I'll post pixs tomorrow.

Close Call

This morning we had a very scarey moment. We were at Starbucks waiting for the bank to open so we could return to the American Embassy for our appt and Thais was asleep in her stroller because we left the house at 7am. It was crowded and you know those places arent very big. Somehow an older man tips his entire silver coffee mug over and it runs off onto Thais. Her head and hair and jacket we all wet and she was screaming at the top of her lungs. The employees rushed over with 1st aid kits and cold compresses and calling 911, the whole store just stopped. I got her jacket off and was feeling and looking for burns and wetness but thankfully found none. Some how the jacket saved Thais and the coffee just ran off the jacket and not through it. Ze held her, the employess gave her a chocolate croissant and really were helpful. The guy who did it felt horrible and didnt want to leave. He kept trying to play with Thais and kept asking her if she was ok, which she would say in between her tears and hiccups, "ok, ok". It really was scary but we were very lucky and thankful.
We then spent 5 hrs in the American Embassy and have to go back tomorrow. It has been a very long day and its only 2pm. we still have more packing and shipping and moving to do, but another day closer to Brasil. We so need to get away at this point....

6 days and counting...

Well as we take a few stpes forward, we end up taking a few back at the same time and it feels like we arent getting any closer to having everything done for our trip to Brasil. But we do have our plane tickets in hand, i have gotten my brasilian visa and my passport is ready and in hand. tomorrow we have ze's appt with the american embassy for his work visa for the winter. Our boxes got wet in the rain but we are trying to use the ones we can and get those packed tonight. We have said our good byes to our friends here as they have already moved out and left. We still have lots to do but we slowly are moving forward.

In the process of our maddness thais has turned into a big girl all by herself. It seems she knows that her 2nd bday is approaching and she is growing up over night. She has been the best little helper lately, she loves her brother all of sudden and she even is wearing pulls ups. She goes to bed all on her own and is eating well and playing with her brother and loves to go get him when he wakes up, she feds him, she hugs and kisses him, gives him toys. The last few days she wants to help me with dishes and sweeping. Its been amazing.... the kids are a fantastic break for us and remind us why we are doing all of this.

the pixs are our trips to blockbuster which they just love and the kids helping me do dishes, thais washes them and tiago puts them in the dish washer.

Test run

Well the way I look at it, today was a test run to our traveling to Brasil. Today was the first day it didnt rain in about a week. So we made sure we got out with the kids today. Well we had some shopping to do so of course I picked the biggest mall in Vancouver that I have not been to yet. We have no car, so we took the bus down town and then transferred to the sky train with 2 kids and no strollers. That in itself was an adventure and we hadnt even made it to the mall yet.

This mall is so big they have the same store twice on different sides because people wont walk from one side to the other, so they put the store on each side, its that big. Well we rented a stroller they were out of doubles, so a kid walked or was carried the whole time. We did good for about the first 2 hours, then we got hungry, the kids got tired and we almost lost it. But after lunch and some running around for Thais, we went to the second floor of the mall. The funny part is we went shopping to get shrts for Ze and I for Brasil and of course we got nothing and the kids got everything. Oh and we got some presents to give to our family upon our arrival in Brasil. Cant go home empty handed....

So Thais passed her nap time, Tiago was asleep and we still had to get home. So we got on the SkyTrain to downtown, then transferred to the bus and home we went. In all we were gone for 6 hrs and were exhausted. All Ze and I can think of is.... its going to take us 3 days to get from Vancouver to Ze's dad house. We really know what we are in for now.
(pixs are from camera and phone)

The kids

Your in for a treat today. I realised I have gotten away from this blog being about the kids and the stages in thier lives and has turned more into a dairy, so today i am going back to the roots and only talking about the babies.

Thais- well as of the bad weather lately, Thais has learned to say, "It's raining". She is now putting several words together to make cute sentances like, "Mano coming" meaning Tiago is following her. Her and I have been playing games like chase, tag and hide'n seek. She doesnt exactly understand the hide part. As soon as i turn around from counting to ten. she jumps out to make sure i can see her instead of hiding and when its her turn to count and cover her eyes, she is always looking through her fingers. Ive been trying to teach her how to hold her fingers together in the 2 position but she cant do it and just claps her hands shut when i ask her, "quantos anos?" and then she says "dos, tres, quatro" doesnt understand she is supposed to stop at 2. We have also been trying to speak more portuguese to her in preperation for our trip to Brasil and she is understanding. She loves to make silly faces, jump, run and stand on her head. She colors and loves to read books. She can point things out now, like dog, cat, apple, banana, popcorn, ball, boat, ice cream, and others as we walk around or read books or on the tv. But her all time favorite things is dressing up. She LOVES shoes, bags, hats, clothes, jackets, necklaces.... but mainly shoes. she can spend an hr in our closet trying on all of our shoes, flip flops, ze's cleats, heels.. it dont matter she puts them all on. It is normal now to see her with someone elses shoes on walking down the hallway. She doesnt like when we are on the computer, she will push it out of the way and sit on our laps, so i try to get up early, stay up late or get on times like now where they are both asleep.

Tiago- more and more i can not stress how much this kid eats. i think Thais will start losing weight because Tiago eats all of her snacks i put out for her. He has eaten cubes of cheese, pretzels, pizza crust, tortilla, toast, cheetoes.... all the stuff he isnt supposed to. He does eat tons of rice, beans, meat, cheerioes, baby bisquits, baby stars and more. He is over his jarred food and just wants real food. He loves his sippy cup but loves his sisters cup more, even if they both have apple juice in them, he will take hers. I am still breast feeding him a few times a day and a few times at night. Its more of a comfort thing than anything else. Now in big boy news... he is starting to stand on his own. he has been standing while holding on for awhile now, but now he is letting go for a few moments at a time. He also loves when we hold his hands and walk with him down the hallway. He can even walk holding just one hand of ours. It s so cute and makes me so sad at the same time. I know Thais walked at 8 months, but i was really hoping Tiago wouldnt walk till he was a yr old, but i am pretty sure he will take his first steps while we are in brasil. Which is special in itself but he will probably be 10 months old. Tiago is fine now to be playing alone and be fine with it. he loves to bother his sister but he doesnt do it as much anymore. i will see them both with different toys in the same room, which is a relief for us trust me! Now i guess the cutest thing is Tiago will always be a mommy's boy, but as of late he is really loving his papa time too. The minute he sees papa he gets huge smiles and tries to jump up and down, he raised his arms or will crawl after ze down the hall way as soon as ze walks in the door.

Both- this is probably my proudest moment. last night tiago had fallen asleep on my boob and thais crawled up onto the couch with us. She leans over to his face and kisses him on his forehead, then looks at me and outs her finger to her mouth and says, "Shhhhh, night night" i was just about to cry tears of joy when she then proceeded to touch his closed eyes with her finger. But for a moment it was sweet. She now also likes to put stars and cheerioes in his mouth for him and hand him his sippy cup. I think it has finally dawned on her that he can play back. She will run down the hallway and he will scream and she thinks he is chasing her, even if he doesnt follow her, she will run back towards him and then they both scream of joyous laughter and do it all over again. This happens with a lot of things, around the coffee table, in the bedroom, outside...honestly i hear more laughing than crying this week than last. So i hope it lasts. There is nothing more precious than my babies playing together.

Well here are some pixs of the last few days. With the weather we havnt done much, hence the messy hair and pajamas, but we are still very busy as we prepare for our trip to brasil and move to the states for the winter.

1-0

Thats right, Vancouver won 1-0 last night. It was a very exciting game. and now Ze and the boys are headed to Portland to play the second half of the series. All we have to do is have more goals than them at the end of both games and we advanced to the semi- finals.

The game is on tv tomorrow in the states and in canada on fox soccer channel at 5pm (pst). I dont have my cell phone, Ze took it to portland, but if you have any questions, you can email or leave a comment here and I'll get back to you. I wont be around though during the game. Me and th ekids have been invited over to another players house to watch the game with the other wives and kids of the team.

Anyways i am very excited and nervous. As you know the last 2 seasons, Ze has missed the playoffs due to different injuries. So the last time he played in the playoffs was when Montreal won the championship in 2004. I am hoping for a repeat outcome this playoffs.

Home alone with both kids, no car, no phone, and its raining.....wish me luck!!!!

ParabĂ©ns Pra VocĂȘ

Thats right, its Papa's 29th birthday. While he doesnt like to make a big deal out of it, we still wanted to do something. So with the money Ze received from his birthdays cards and such, he went to the casino by himself for an hour or so. Then we got new cell phones finally and spent the evening together before Adrian and Ashiko did a surprise visit through the back door with cake and candles. I knew but Ze didnt so it was small but cute.

It is amazing for just one year ago, we were in Montreal surrounded by our friends, but Ze was on crutches, I was pregnant with Tiago and Thais wasnt even a year old. Its amazing how much can change in a year. Thank you for Ze for all the emails, cards, phone calls and visits from everyone!!!

And so it ends

And just like that, Nana has left Canada once again. No we had a great visit. After spending the morning packing, we walked to the park for a few more minutes of fun time. Then it was back to normal life, returning the rental car, taking the bus back home, Ze off to a doctors appt and back home to my smiling babies. Now we just sit and wait for the play off games this weekend.

I will try loading some more videos tomorrow, we took a few funny ones, but i got to get to sleep for now. Night ya'll and thanks mom, we love you!!!
